Naked and Determined Materialism: Unobserved, 2026, synthetic polymer paint on birch panel, 90 × 70 cm.
The irresolute surface in this series gives way to an unfinished aesthetic; embracing gaps, pauses and what appear to be uneven textures, that shifts the work from pure abstraction to a conceptual puzzle, allowing for an active unfolding of the relationship between the hidden past and the visible present. The sanding process embraces chance where underlying colours, textures, and binders re-emerge at random. This reliance on chance highlights that the material resists absolute control, while an indeterminate depth and light-play offer an intentionally inconclusive view.
