Bettina's paintings develop through the layered application of paint and mediums, disrupted by scraping, industrial sanding, or glazing. Working through matter, space, weight, and time, she imprints the surface with kinetic energy.
Her studio practice extends these material boundaries into new configurations of surface and structure. Wire, clay, paper, fabric, oil sticks, and charcoal often enter the process as ideas develop, often carrying through into the finished work. The result is nuanced, subtly sculptural paintings, where mixed media and technique challenge how surface carries meaning and value.
Bettina has lived and worked extensively across the Middle East and Asia, where her practice incorporated ceramics and sculpture. She holds a BFA from the National Art School, Sydney. Her work has been exhibited in LSG, National Art School, Revolve Gallery, and The Shop Gallery, and is held in notable private collections.
Bettina lives and creates on Garigal and Gadigal country, part of the Eora Nation, Sydney.
